Every day I write the list
Of reasons why I still believe they do exist

waking up in the middle of the woods, and realizing your toes are freezing off and you need to put another piece of the wood in the stove. snuggling back in a sleeping bag and listening to it crackle and roar while the room heats up.

Hearing a band that really wakes me up again. This morning, Mumford and Sons. something about Irish music just has this earthy, living feeling.

Back when Amy Winehouse was at the top of her game, the curve in her voice could pull the shiver right out of my spine. Today is for "You Know I'm No Good" and that curve's effect.

When the world feels like it's caving in on you and the tiniest pieces of bad news or interruptions become a mountain of sadness, sometimes it's the smallest and insignificant acts that brighten you most. Thank g for amazing haircuts.

I deliver babies as a nurse, and I have to say the reason I do this is because of the reactions of the fathers and mothers right after delivery. Disbelief, automatic and unconditional love, tears, anticipation and wonder. Helplessness and innocence thrust into what fate or destiny has named their parents; in a sudden moment you witness a family bloom. In the good cases, that is.

Fall nights, past midnight, when you're walking outside and the pavement has that icy sheen after it's rained - the most beautiful thing is when the wind wakes up and the shadows of falling leaves and rustling branches make it seem like you're in the middle of a million living things in the most quiet moment of the night.

Days where I get to work from home so that when I get an urge to get up and dance to Lady Gaga, I can do that without people thinking I'm crazy. Unfortunately, today's not a work from home today. Thus, it's a dance in my chair kinda day, which is good but not the same.
